The
new archaeological excavations in Thassos Greece
They
were this year presented in annual Scientific Congress " the Archaeological
Work in Macedonia and Thrace" in Thessalonica the preliminary
conclusions of the Excavation that was realised the summertime 2004
in the necropolis of Limenas Thassos. The presentation of discoveries
became from the commissaries of antiquities Dr Stratis Papadopoulos
and Dr Marina Sgourou and their collaborators, Vassiliki Papalazaroy
and Sofia Tsoutsoumpei.

discoveries of this excavations.
Golden
Earrings In
combustion of 4th century b.c. was found also one of the more
beautiful jewels of this year's excavation with representations
of winged Iris

Golden
jewels The
young girls were intered the 4th century b.c. with golden, sylver,
cupreous or bone jewels and dressed with decorated clothes.

The
adoration of the egyptian deities is testified in Thassos already by
the end of 3rd century b.c. Characteristic is also the finding of sculptures
in the island that depicts young girls with jewel of head that is related
with Isis. Moreover, the appearance of symbols of Isis and in the bas-reliefs
on graves of the city, after the 2nd b.c. century, certifies her
role as protector of young girls at their
passage to the down world.
